Lesson Builder: Building out Lessons
The Lesson Builder was created and designed with a high level of customization to allow providers to create the perfect session structures for their staff. ABA is not just a science but an art! This space, we hope, gives the artist an opportunity to create session structures that guide your staff in how to run a session and eliminates guessing and while increasing efficiency.
And yes, you figured it out, Lesson and Session in Welina's world have the same meaning.
What is the Lesson Builder exactly?
The Lesson Builder allows you select any number of programs currently in a client's Program Management profile and put them into a specific curated lesson. For example, if you provide services to a client at school in the morning and home in the evenings, there may be some skill acquisition programs relevant in both settings and some that are exclusive to each setting. Building lessons allows you to separate, for your staff, what program should be targeted.
How to Create a Lesson
- Navigate to
from the menu
- Select Create Lesson button at the top right corner
- Give your lesson a name! This should make it clear to your staff who (e.g., Sr. BTs, grad students, new trainees) should be running this lesson and when (e.g, school, home, community).
- Choose the lesson frequency
- Choose "daily" for the lesson to always appear as an option for your staff.
- Choose "Weekly" to provide the days of the week which you can assign the lesson. Your lessons will only show available to run on the App on the days of the week selected.
- Assign staff members that you want to be able see/access the lesson. For example, you may create a lesson for RBTs in training or a more complicated programs that only Senior RBTs should run.
- Add Tags (this helps with search and filtering)
- Enter Lesson Instructions for your staff can view on the Welina App prior to starting the lesson. These instructions may pertain to session structure or the order of skills/programs.
- Optional: Link a specific Lesson Note template to your lesson.
- If you choose a specific Note Template for the lesson, this note template will be the ONLY note template option your staff can use when running that lesson during session.
- If you do not choose a specific note template assigned to the Lesson, your staff will have the option to choose from all active templates in your Note Template list.
- Select the programs to appear in this lesson. NOTE: There is an option to not select any programs to be added to the lesson. More on that below.
Lessons without Programs
For any instances in which a Lesson Note is needed but no direct services are being rendered you can create an "Empty Lesson". This is a Lesson built out without any programs added to it. When an "Empty Lesson" is selected from the Welina app, you will be redirected straight to the Note template to complete and submit. This allows you build and create specific documentation for assessment, report writing, or other indirect work you might be billing for.
