Creating a Task Analysis in Welina

Total Task Analysis

On the Web

  1. Create a program for the Task Analysis (e.g. Hand Washing).
  2. Enter each step of the Task Analysis as a separate Trial-by-Trial target (e.g. 1. Turn on water; 2. Wet hands). Select the desired Prompting Hierarchy template for the targets.

Notes
To ensure the targets appear in order in the App, set all targets in the same Teaching Phase (e.g. Acquisition) and set the Mastery Settings to “Manual.” Add numbers to each target to indicate the desired order of the targets.

In the App

Staff will be able to record a response for each step/target in the Task Analysis (e.g., Independent, Prompted, No Response). The response recorded will depend on the Prompt Hierarchy template attached to the targets.

Forward and Backward Chaining

On the Web

  1. Create a program for the Task Analysis (e.g. Hand Washing).
  2. Enter each step of the Task Analysis as a separate Trial-by-Trial target (e.g. 1. Turn on water; 2. Wet hands). Select the desired Prompting Hierarchy template for the targets.
  3. If steps have already been mastered, set the status of these targets to “Completed.”
  4. Locate the step/target the learner is on and set the target’s status to “Teaching.”
  5. Set all remaining steps/targets to the status “Pending.”
  6. As the learner masters each step of the Task Analysis, update the next step/target from “Pending” to “Teaching.”

Notes
Since RBTs cannot view “Pending” targets in the App, they will not be able to view targets as a guide for the steps of the Task Analysis. It is recommended to ensure all steps of the Task Analysis are provided in either the Program Instructions or Target Instructions so that RBTs may access the complete Task Analysis sequence.

In the App

Staff will be able to view and record a response for only the current step/target in the Task Analysis (e.g., Independent, Prompted, No Response). The response recorded will depend on the Prompt Hierarchy template attached to the targets.
